I have been arguing that President Obama and the Democratic leadership in Congress have seriously failed their party; they have made repeated mistakes and miscalculations that have driven most independents and many Democrats over to the Republican side for the coming election..
The Democratic Pollster, Pat Caddell appears to agree with me. He is also predicting that the Republican Party will completely dominate the coming November midterm elections. Robert Costa at National Review has written an article that gives some of Pat Caddell’s ideas about the Democratic leadership and how they will fare in the coming election.
Caddell made his name in Jimmy Carter’s White House, where he was called the “house Cassandra” for his “all-too-candid” prophesies. And now Caddell is predicting a mid-term referendum which will be greater than that which happened during Carter’s unpopular presidency. Caddell is disliked and considered something of a defector by many in the left wing of the Democratic Party, but I think that we can disregard that complaint since a moderate Republican would be attacked by conservatives in exactly the same way, if he or she strongly disagreed with conservative political tactics.
This article lists a couple of scary polls for big Government Democrats;
- A Rasmussen poll from earlier this year showed just 21 percent of voters believing that the federal government enjoys the consent of the governed.
- And a CNN poll that suggests that 56 percent of Americans worried that the federal government poses a direct threat to their freedom.
In other words, large numbers of Americans are worried about the expanding power of the federal government.
Meanwhile; the Democrats completely blew it by forcing the health care bill down our throats. According to Caddell, “most people supported aspects of (health care) reform — but because of the way it was passed, as a crime against democracy, the country has simply not accepted it. The lies, the browbeating, the ‘deem and pass’ — all of it was a suicide mission.”
Gallup recently released a poll which showed a 10 point preference for Republicans over Democrats; this is an unprecedented number. Republicans are typically undercounted in this poll and have won elections when this poll showed strong Democratic preference.
–And people still don’t like Republicans which shows you just how much they detest Democrats.
Caddell gets to the point that rings most true to many of us former Democrats when he states–“Democrats used to be the voice of the common man in America, not his dictator,” –The people who own the party — George Soros, the Center for American Progress, the public-employee union bosses, rich folks flying private jets to ‘ideas festivals’ in Aspen — they’re Obama’s base.”
–I agree with Caddell on this point, the main problem with Democrats is that they think that they know how to improve my life; and they think that they can do it better than I can do it myself. While at the same time they can send money to all of their favorite lobbying interests.
Republicans can be just as dishonorable about how they want to spend our money, but at least they aren’t hypocrites about it.

I am an old friend of Pat Caddel. I would like to contact him. If you would be kind enough to pass this along to him I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

Bill,
I made your phone numbers unreadable. I’m not sure that you want them listed on the internet; there are too many kooks out there. However, I did save your information. If you have any questions please email me at backbenchmedia@gmail.com.
If you are Bill Batoff; the long-time Democratic fundraiser, then I am thrilled that you are reading my humble blog. It is my hope that your party will someday become the party that once attracted my vote.
Thanks for your attention.

Ladies and Gentlemen that was Bill Batoff who posted a comment on this page. I am quite thrilled that he has done so, if only by accident.
Bill accidently sent a private message into my comment section but I will now use it as proof that intelligent people (like you) actually read this stuff!
Bill was and still is a prominent Democratic fundraiser who advised Presidents Carter and Clinton; and at 75 still works and raises money for political and charity interests.

He made news several years ago when he supported G.W. Bush over Gore and has occasionally supported other Republicans such as Tom Corbett.
See…you aren’t the only bright and thoughtful person who reads this stuff!!
I would like to say Bravo to Pat for his speech at the Western Conservative Christian Convention in Denver. If everyone could hear that speech, I think they would certainly agree with what Pat said. Ask Pat to please endorse a candidate, or run himself.
